First, a few reminders
Your Rally wallet is a non-custodial, MPC wallet — this means that you are in complete control of your funds, but that we can help you recover access if you have a valid backup
You can only backup a wallet on a device that currently has a valid, activated wallet
Never uninstall or logout of your Rally account without backing up your wallet — we won't be able to help you recover access
The app will attempt to warn you & encourage you to backup, but ultimately, you are responsible for backing up your wallet.
Activation on iOS
Wallet backups on iOS are stored in iCloud by default, and your wallet will be automatically backed up to iCloud if you have a logged in iCloud account.
If you're having trouble activating your iOS wallet, here are a few things to check:
You are logged into iCloud in iOS Settings
You are logged into the same Apple account as on the device where you created your wallet and/or backed it up
Password syncing is enabled (Settings → Your profile → iCloud → Passwords)
Note that sometimes it will prompt you for a password when going to this screen — this is often a sign that you needed to log back in. Give it a few minutes & try again.
Note that it may take a few minutes after logging in for activation to be able to get your key backups
Note that all wallet operations in Rally require that your device has a passcode set or TouchID / FaceID setup.
Activation on Android
Wallet backups on Android are stored in Google Drive. Google requires you to complete a manual login step on Android to save or restore information from Google Drive.
This means that Wallet Backup is a manual operation that you must complete.
If you're having trouble activating your Android wallet, here are a few things to check:
You are logged in to your Google account in Android settings
You are logged in to the same Google account as on the device where you backed up the wallet
Make sure you choose the same account in the device picker when activating the wallet, as you did when you backed up the wallet
Ensure that Sign-in Prompts are enabled
The simplest way on most phones is to navigate to your Google Account in settings and then search for "sign-in prompts"
If you're still having troubles, please reach out to Support. However please note that unfortunately, if you do not have a backup there is nothing that we can do to help.
The non-custodial nature of web3 is an incredibly important & powerful, but unfortunately comes with risks & requires careful control of your backups or keys.
