As a non-custodial wallet, Rally gives you full control over your assets — and with that control comes the responsibility to protect them. Backing up your wallet is essential for safeguarding your funds. If your wallet isn’t backed up, you risk permanently losing access.
Please follow the steps below for iOS and Android to ensure your Rally wallet is securely backed up and always recoverable.

Important Warnings
If you don’t back up your wallet and lose access to your device, your wallet shard cannot be recovered, which means permanent loss of access.
Logging out of Rally without a backup will result in the wallet becoming non-functional and unrecoverable.

For iOS Users
1. Backing Up Your Wallet:
The Rally Wallet is automatically backed up on iOS. In most cases, no additional steps are needed to secure your wallet.
Note: In some cases, it might not automatically back up. Make sure iCloud Drive is turned on by going to Device Settings > iCloud > iCloud Backup and ensuring ‘Back Up This iPhone’ is turned on. Then try backing up again.
2. Checking Your Backup:
Go to Settings → Wallets → Select your Rally Wallet → Scroll down to the Backup section for the backup status.
For Android Users
1. Backing Up Your Wallet:
Open the Rally app and go to Wallet.
Press Backup Wallet > Backup Rally Wallet and follow the instructions to back up your wallet using your Google Account. This will securely store your wallet shard in Google Drive, making it easy to recover if you change devices.
Note: Make sure that a Google Account is connected to your device, and have sign-in prompts enabled in your Google Account settings, then try backing up again.
2. Checking Your Backup:
Go to Settings → Wallets → Select your Rally Wallet → Scroll down to the Backup section for the backup status.
If you're having trouble backing up your Android wallet, here are a few things to check:
You are logged in to your Google account in Android settings
You choose the account that you want to backup to in the prompt to choose account, and that you have access to Google Drive on that account
Ensure that Sign-in Prompts are enabled
The simplest way on most phones is to navigate to your Google Account in settings and then search for "sign-in prompts"
You are not on a VPN or in another environment where websockets may not be allowed.
